Kindergarten, Carina

The project of the kindergarten at Carina was conceived as a response to the challenges of the complex location within the urban fabric. The building features a rooftop terrace for children's outdoor activities. This kindergarten represents the first example of green roofing on public buildings in Užice, setting new standards in sustainable architecture.

We developed the complete project documentation – from the conceptual design and obtaining the building permit to the execution project – for the kindergarten in the Carina neighborhood in Užice. The location of the kindergarten, situated on an elevated site and within a dense urban fabric, posed a significant design challenge due to the lack of direct access to green areas at ground level.

As a response to these specific conditions, we designed an innovative green rooftop terrace that allows for safe and pleasant outdoor activities for children, while also enhancing the space in the urban environment. This terrace not only provides space for play and learning but also serves as an element that contributes to improving the microclimate and the visual attractiveness of the building.

The project introduces the trend of green roofing on public buildings in the city of Užice, applying modern and technically high-quality solutions that follow the latest standards in sustainable architecture. In addition to the ecological aspect, this approach emphasizes the importance of integrating green spaces into urban areas, thereby achieving a better quality of life for all users of the building.

The building is located on a 6,505 m² plot, shared with the already constructed city pool, and encompasses a gross developed building area of 1,402 m². With its functionality and innovative approach, this project represents an important step toward the future of sustainable architecture in our city.

The construction of this building began in 2022 and is currently in the final phase. The work is nearing completion, and the building will soon be ready to welcome its first young users – children who will enjoy the new play and activity spaces. With the completion of construction, the building will offer high-quality and safe conditions for children, contributing to the development and improvement of infrastructure in this part of the city.
