Sports Hall Čajetina

The idea of expanding the public sports hall in Čajetina, which is home to the basketball club Zlatibor, evolved from a hall and school gymnasium into a space where international matches are now held according to FIBA standards

We created the complete project documentation for this sports facility, covering all stages of design – from the conceptual solution, through obtaining the building permit, to the execution project. The facade of the building is dominated by perforated composite material – aluminum composite panels (Alubond), which create a dynamic play of light and shadow. Various effects were achieved both in daylight and nighttime conditions. The building is designed on a plot of 2,188 m², and the constructed gross developed building area is 2,102 m².

The functional organization of the space is designed in accordance with the standards prescribed for hosting international basketball matches under the patronage of the FIBA organization, which sets technical standards for courts, equipment, and competitions to ensure that all matches comply with the highest professional and safety requirements. The design work involved the implementation of new content and alignment with regulations within the existing building structure, which had certain limitations. The result is a visually appealing building that meets all functional requirements and allows its use according to its intended purpose.

The existing hall was built with a reinforced concrete system of load-bearing columns and pre-stressed concrete beams, which carry the load from the roof structure. The expanded part of the hall was partially constructed with concrete elements, which were used for building the stands, while the main load-bearing system of the facade and roof in the expanded section was realized in steel construction.
